Angel of Sanctification Postcard Print

Description

Clothed in flowing white and deep blue, haloed in flame, the angel stands with hand raised in blessing and chalice held aloft. Behind them, the field shimmers with the watch of peacock feathers — eyes upon eyes, the gaze of witness and sanctity.

In the writings of tradition, more than one bears this title: Phanuel, Suriel, Metatron, Michael, Zagzagael. Each is named among the angels of sanctification, those who guard holiness and carry it forward. Among Catholics, Michael himself is sometimes bound to this role, keeper of the Eucharist, lifting chalice and presence as sign and covenant.

This artwork holds that current: an angel as sanctifier, blessing and bearing, hand and cup joined in gesture of consecration. It is less a portrait of one name than an image of the role itself — the angel whose work is to hallow, to set apart, to gather presence into holiness.
